Dystopian War Newsletter 3
There was one league battle this week. The Chinese Federation (Ian) fought the Indian Raj (Chris) again. It was a hard fought battle with the Indian Raj taking boarding actions to a new level, and the Chinese sinking one of their own ships which had been captured by the Indians. The Indians however completed their mission, while the Chinese were ten points off completing theirs. However, for the first time the Chinese Battleship wasn’t boarded and sunk. Victory to the Indian Raj.
There was another Dystopian War battle, but was a training game rather than a league game. Ryan (Prussian) and Shane (Britannia) had their first game of Dystopian war. They started off with everything targeting each other’s Heavy Battleship. Once these were sunk they turned on to the smaller ships. They carried on until only 2 British cruisers were left, but they had managed to do boarding actions, collisions and ramming. I look forward to there future battles with what they are going to do.

Dystopian War Newsletter 4 There was one league battle this week. The Chinese Federation (Ian) fought the Prussians (Aaron). The battle was very bloody. First kill went to the Chinese when their frigates destroyed a Prussian Frigate. Then things went a bit bad for the Chinese as the Prussian Battle Cruiser and Battleship had a series of double critical hits against the Chinese cruisers and Battle Cruiser sinking them. The Chinese did get revenge by sinking the Prussian Battlecruiser with a double critical. The Prussians won with sinking all the medium class Chinese ships and 50 % of the force. The Chinese came close to their mission of sinking the small ships, but the Prussians had one frigate left. There were also a couple of training games. Ryan (Antarctica) took on Shane (Britiannia) to get to know their fleets before going into league battles. Also Felix (Prussian) and Jason (Indian Raj) had there first battle. It started with a bang as The Indian Monitor hit a Prussian cruiser with a double critical sinking it. The Prussian got back into it by sinking some of the Indian cruisers with their Battle Cruiser and Battleship. The final act of the game before ending it due to time was the Indian dive bombers attacking the battleship. The AA fire shot down four SAW’s. Dystopian War Newsletter 5 We had two battles this week. First up, the forces of Antarctica (Ryan) took on the Black Wolf Mercenaries (Felix). The Antarctican’s used a carrier and took control of the skies from the Mercenaries with their drones and destroyed some of the small submarines and ships with their particle accelerators, but suffered the loss of a medium ship and the assault carrier was badly damaged. The end result was a draw. The other battle was between the Indian Raj (Chris) against Prussia (Aaron). The battle started well for the Prussians with the light Cruisers and Frigates taking out the Indian Heavy destroyers quite quickly. Unfortunately then things went down hill. The Indian assault carrier was able to destroy the frigates and light cruisers by shooting and boarding them. The Prussian Battlecruiser and Battleship came out from behind an island shot at the Monitor and missed. The Monitor, Indian Cruisers and corvettes then swarmed the Battlecruiser destroying it in a turn. The Prussian Battleship then charged in destroyed the Monitor with a Magazine hit but had been hit by the Monitor and was then surrounded by the Assault Carrier, dive bombers, and Cruisers and sunk. Victory to the unstoppable Indian Raj. Chris is now unbeaten after 4 games and is crating a bit of a lead, but most people have only played one or two games and so can quickly catch up. League Points: Chris: 24 Aaron: 8 Shay: 6 Ian: 5 John: 4 Ryan & Felix: 3 Anthony: 1

We had one dystopian war game this week between the French (Shay) and Chris (Indian Raj). This report from the French on the battle: Chris won the roll for Strategic Advantage. We rolled for 4 islands & after placing them them both fleets deployed. First turn The British Raj got initiative, the monitor moved & took a long range potshot against a French medium cruiser, no damage, the French moved cruisers & carrier behind an island on the right out of range & LOS of the Raj Cruisers, which did no firing this round. The Raj moved their 2 heavy destroyers around far right & met the French light subs, destroying one. They returned fire with a volley of torpedoes, only light damage inflicted. The French frigate squadron broadside against the destroyers also caused only light damage. The final shot of the first round was from the big gun on The Raj carrier which scored 3 damage including a critical (navigation lock) on a French medium cruiser which was repaired in the end phase. Second round the French won initiative & moved the frigate squadron across the middle of the board, launching a volley of torpedoes at the Raj corvettes which were creeping towards the French carrier + Commodore. Again only light damage inflicted, but a broadside against the 2 Raj cruisers got 2 crit hits crippling it, causing raging fires & engine failure. The cruisers returned fire, obliterating 1 frigate with a combined broadside. Primary turret fire on another missed, & two boarding actions on the remaining frigates were both repelled after heavy ack ack leaving the undamaged cruiser with no marines. Time ran out at this stage forcing both fleets to withdraw after an indecisive engagement. Checking after we confirmed that both fleets got identical Field Orders - Vital Asset Destruction, at least 50% MFV in VP including all large & massive models. Dystopian War Newsletter 6 Remember on Sunday we have some guys coming up for DBMM, but after 2pm it will be any game and I’m hoping we can get a game of dystopian going to show the guys. We had two battles this week. Firstly the Royal Navy (Shane) took on the French (Shay). The French held back for the most part and the British sailed in through the gap of the Island and sand bar and concentrated fire power on to the French Heavy Battleship. The French frigates tried to do a boarding assault on the English Tribal ships but the marines were massacred. Eventually the British firepower sunk the French Heavy Battleship and victory went to the Royal Navy. The other battle was between the Prussian’s (Aaron) and Antarctica (Ryan). The battle started well for the Prussians with them sinking an Antarctican cruiser. But then disaster struck. The Antarctican Battleship fired its Particle Accelerator that hit the Prussian Light Cruiser squadron. It destroyed the damaged one and then caused the second cruiser’s magazine to explode sinking it. The Explosion then further damaged the third Cruiser and the Battle Cruiser, including its engine. Meanwhile the Battleships Broadsides ripped through the Prussian Battleship damaging the main guns. One of the Antarctican cruisers then tried to board a Prussian Frigate, which heroically fought off the assault and then, with assistance from another frigate, boarded and captured the cruiser. With the Prussian Battleship heavily damaged the Commodore charged up the tesla generator and rammed the Antarctican Battleship, but bounced off. It then unleashed the Imperial Guard marines against the Antarctican’s. The AA caused large casualties, but enough got on to cause trouble to the ship and both groups of marines wiped each other out. The Antarctican Battleship then fired its Broadsides into the Prussian Battleship, but it survived (Just) and the Particle Accelerator bounced off the Battlecruiser. The Battlecruiser then moved in front of the Antarctican Battleship fired its guns at the last cruiser, which was partially blocked by a small frigate, and managed to sink it. It then launched its marines to capture the undefended Battleship. The Prussians had somehow managed to complete there mission of sinking the Medium ships. The Antarctican’s managed to sink the last Prussian Frigate, but fell 15 points short of the 50% mark. Therefore victory to the Prussians. With apologies for the delay posting this. Dystopian Wars RoF (Shay) v The Black Wolf (Felix) (Oct 7th) RoF won Strategic Advantage so chose table edge & let the Black Wolf set up Advance Deployment first - he set up most of his units as far forward in advance as possible, leaving just the large submersible & fighter screens at back. The RoF set up most units hugging the back of main deployment, with the small Alma skimmers in forward deployment to spot for indirect fire. One large sea-peak separated both forces. We drew 4 TAC cards each & our Field Orders & began. The mercenary Fury corvettes on the right flank saw first action, losing 2 ships to heavy fire from the enemy cruiser squadron but rallied to return fire, failing to penetrate the cruiser armour. The Black Wolf Manticore skimmer cruiser swung around the mountain & unleashed all fire against the RoF skimmers, the devastating firepower took out one ship but failed to find its mark otherwise. The French returned fire with all main guns & broadside from their Battlecruiser, a series of cascading explosions annihilating the mercenary cruiser. The remaining ships on each side maneuvered up but were either out of range or failed to find their marks, apart from one more corvette being destroyed by rocket fire from the French carrier. The second turn the Black Wolf won initiative & brought their Nemesis battlecruiser to bear on the French skimmers, wiping them out with both main guns & broadside. The French Dieppe cruisers concentrated fire on the Death Bringer sub, causing one critical hit & also some hull damage to the remaining Fury frigates on the right. The Death Bringer chose to ignore the cruisers & fired all weapons against the Cherbourg which had no chance to reply in kind - it suffered 3 critical hits, enough to destroy it, but beforehand causing a sturginium flare & teleported randomly, colliding with the French carrier, causing a critical hit (chaos & disarray) , disabling it's carrier ability & rocket batteries. The remaining fire was indecisive, a bombing run from the RoF on the Death Bringer sub did nothing, the surviving mercenary cruiser was untouched by main battery & broadside fire from the carrier, which soaked up an attack run from the 2nd fury squadron with no damage. As we were out of time we had to call the game, neither of us had achieved our Field order objectives & with a minor difference in victory points it was a draw.

Dystopian Wars Battle.
One battle was fought this week. Please also note that as I will be away for December, Kev is now taking the results and keeping the spreadsheet for the tournament.
So this week the Prussians (Aaron) did manoeuvres with their close allies the Danes (Jason). The battle started with Danish corvettes rushing up and dropping mines followed by the cruisers. This pinned most of the Prussian back, but did allow the big guns to come into action quickly as the Danish pocket battleship would be left behind for a turn. On the Prussian left, their frigates pushed up, but were hit by the Danish gunship and dive bombers and were sunk, but did scratch the Danish gunship. In the middle the Danish Cruisers suffered horribly to the Prussian fleet, and the corvettes did not survive much longer, but at least had the glory of repelling a boarding action by the Prussian Battle cruiser. The Prussians having cleared the middle then engaged the Danish Pocket Battleship. The Prussian Battlecruiser was able to electricify the Danish Pocket Battleship and the remaining cruiser and Emperor class battleship then bounded it, sinking the ship and winning the battle. Victory to Prussia.

This week the Prussians (Aaron) took on the Indian Raj (Chris). The battle started with long range shooting from the Indian Assault Carrier at the Prussian Light Cruisers, damaging two of them. The Prussian Battlecruiser and Light Cruisers then pounded the Indian Destroyers and with the frigates closed in on the Indian Cruisers. They then started to board the Indian Cruisers, sinking one and capturing another. The Captured one was then liberated by the Assault Carriers crew which in the same turn tried to also board a Prussian Light Cruiser and three of the frigates. The Light Cruiser and a frigate fought off their boarding attempts and two frigates were sunk. The Prussian Battleship then sunk the liberated cruiser, while facing sniper fire from the Indian Monitor. The Prussian Battlecruiser was also suffering from long range fire from the assault carrier and after repeated shots finally sank. The Prussian Light Cruisers then hunted down and sank the final Indian Cruiser to complete their mission. However the battle was not yet over, as the Prussian Battleship came under fire, suffering damage from the Assault carrier, the Battleship launch a full on boarding action to capture the ship and its commodore. The Battleship then suffered a hit from the Monitor which set it on fire. The Prussian Commodore valiantly led his crew in trying to put out the flames, but with no Marines on board the fire spread and the Battleship had to be abandoned. The Commodore, true to navy tradition, would go down with his ship. This completed the Indian mission, but with more points, the Prussians could claim a narrow victory.
