Bloodbowl League

The Bloodbowl season kicked off on Wednesday. Three games started, but due to time constraints, only one finished the other two games played the first half and will complete the games next Wednesday.
The first game to be started was The Pro Elf team the 7up Sellouts v the Orc’s of Greenbay Nosepickers. The game started in a Blizzard, which mysteriously started as the Pro elves ran on to the field. (Officials are currently looking for snow making machines, but the blizzard is making it hard to see). The Pro Elves kicked to the Orc’s and after a great start, manage to get the ball off the Goblin that had it and scored a turn over touchdown 15 minutes into the half. The teams then set up again, and the Orc’s extracted revenge by Breaking the ribs of one Elf Lineman and killing another one, virtually wiping out the line of Scrimmage. 30 mins into the half another Elf went off with a smashed hip after trying to get away from the Orc’s. However the Elves did hold off the Orc’s and went into the half leading 1-0. The second half has been postponed with the Orc’s fielding a full team and the Pro Elves having seven to start the drive.

The Second game saw the Flash Mob (Human) take on the Skavenblight Samphires. Things started well for the Flash Mob, with them knocking over the Rat Ogre and then fouling him to stun him. The Flash Mob would then follow this up with their Catcher throwing a touchdown pass to a Lineman in the 15th minute of the game. With the restart, the Skaven would push into the Human half of the field inflicting casualties, with a human Lineman leaving with a Fracture Skull in the 20th minute and and another killed by the Rat Ogre in the 25th minute. However the Flash Mob would turn the ball over, only for the player to lose balance and drop the ball. He was able to recover it and then score a touchdown in the dying seconds of the Half. Yet again the game has been postponed to next week with the team in the lead down players.

The Final game saw the Barbarians (Human) in a cross division game against the Dwarven Under Miners. This game started in a pouring downpour which would make the ball slippery. The Dwarfs would receive, but the Barbarians started the game with a Blitz. The ball was so slippery that the Dwarfs could not pick it up and the Barbarians Blizter picks it up, but slips in the rain also on the touchdown line and KO’s himself. The Dwarfs are able to pick the ball up this time, and with their Blockers dominating the mid field melee, the Runners are able to run down the field. As they are about to score, the Barbarians are able to do a desperate bliz to knock the Dwarf Runner over. But the Dwarf is able to regather the ball and score in the 35th minute. The Barbarians set up for a quick drive, but nothing comes from it and the half finishes. Over the halftime break the rain stops and the Sun comes out cooking the field. The Dwarfs kick to the Barbarians again, but the Barbarians thrower fails to pick the ball up until the 15th minute. By this time the Dwarfs have dominate the Scrimmage area and the game grinds to a halt. The Coaches decided to call time on the game as the heat effects both sides.
The Dwarfs are the victors, with a 1-0 win and 0-0 casualty count.

Note from League Commissioner: A couple of notes as the Wednesday league was doing this, but it does not seem to have gotten to the Weekend league. As this is a learning league and most coaches have only played one or two games at most , we are not using the four minute time limit for turns or illegal procedure as this can unfairly affect a game for learning players who have enough to remember.

Second Note, again as this is a learning league, if you wish to change your team after the first game either to attrition (e.g. 7up Sellout – 3 deads, 2 Injured) or you don’t like the team after playing it then you can. The game you did play with the old team will be changed to a loss for you and a win for your opponent, even if you beat them. TD’s for and against and Cas’s for and against will be reset to zero.

Finally, I did not put in the scoring system. It is 5 points for a win, 2 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss.

Game Reports:
The second half of 7up Sellout’s v the Greenbay Nosepickers kicked off. A Blizzard was still blowing, and the Orc’s kicked to the Elves. The Elves pushed forward and attempted a pass in the 15th minute of the half, but it was picked off by a Orc Blitzer. The Orc’s then pushed up field and injured an Elf Lineman. In the 20th minute an Elf Lineman, while trying to get away from an Orc, tripped and fell badly killing himself. The Orc’s grinded down the field, and an Elf Catcher trying to get away was again tripped in the 35th minute and was killed. At this point the Elf coach conceded as he had less than three Elfs left in the team. After the game the Coach was executed and the team was sold to a passing Necromancer. He has since raised the team (including the Coach) and so the team is to carry on, just in a different form.

The Second half of the Skaven Samphires and the Flash Mob kicked off with the Flash Mob leading 2-0, but 3-0 down in Casualties. The half started with the crowd throwing rocks, which injured a Flash Mob player. The Flash Mob then kicked to the Skaven, who charged up field and in the 10th minute a Skaven Blitzer killed a Human Lineman. The Skaven then scored in the 20th minute. The rest of the half went quickly as the Flash Mob could not get another score and the game developed into a harmless melee. The Flash Mob would win 2-1.

The Darkelf Shadows started their game against the Human Pfungzig Steelers with a small crowd of 7000, 6000 of them Shadow supporters. The Dark Elves kicked off to Cheering Fans, put the crowd was silenced in the 10th minute as a Dark Elf Blitzer was carried off with a smashed collar bone. The Humans, led by their Ogre, pushed up field, but drive was momentarily halted as the Dark Elves got into the ball carrier, but the Humans regathered and pushed on. With the Shadows KO’ed box filling up, the Humans were able to score in the 25th minute of the half. The Dark Elves, with limited numbers then started their drive. They managed to get a Lineman into the Endzone in the 40th minute and a perfect pass thrown by a Blitzer, but the throw was dropped and the teams went into the half 1-0 to the Steelers.
The Second half started with the Shadows receiving. Their KO’ed players had recovered by now and had gathered themselves at the half. Rather than dancing around the Steelers, the Shadows came out for a fight. With the kick completed, the Dark elf Blitzers, all on the line of Scrimage, knock over the Ogre and a Lineman and KO’ed the other lineman. The Dark elves kept the pressure on, but in the 25th minute a Dark elf Lineman was carried off injured (but had recovered by the end of the game). Suspecting foul play the rest of the team got enraged and hit out at the Steelers. This allowed the Dark Elf Lineman with the ball to force his way through the midfield melee and throw to the Darkelf Lineman in the endzone. The pass was wobbly (inaccurate) but still managed to end up going to the Lineman who caught the ball for a TD drawing the game in the 30th minute.
The Humans then received, but disaster struck as a Human Lineman fell over hitting a Dark elf, before the ball was secured. The Dark elves pounced on the ball and flooded the area, the Humans managed to form a scrambling defence to hold them off, but with the last hit of the game, a Human Lineman hit the TD scoring Dark Elf and was knocked badly being carried off injured and will miss the next game.

There was one league game played at the weekend. The Shadows from the Wednesday Division played the New Orcshire Sneaky Gits from the Weekend Division. Again the Dark Elf fans turned out in mass for the game, even with the downpour. The Dark Elves kicked off with their star kicker, doing a Long kick to the corner. It would be the 15th minute of the game before the Orc Thrower would get to the ball to pick it up. The Orcs dominated the midfield melee with the Dark elves holding back for the first part. 20 minutes into the game a Dark Lineman was KO’ed by a vicious foul from an Orc Blitzer. He was sent off by the Ref for the rest of the game. The orcs continued to drive down the field and in the 30th minute the Dark elves managed to get a lineman to the Orc Thrower and stunned him, knocking the ball out. This disrupted the drive enough to stop the Orc’s from scoring and the half finished 0-0.

Over half time the downpour stopped and the Dark elves received for the start of the second half. The Orcs set up on the line, so the Dark elves pushed through on both flanks. The Ball Carrier went right, as did most of the team. The Orc’s moved that way and it looked as if a desperate pass was going to be need to the Dark elf Lineman who had gone left. But then the Journeyman Dark Elf was crunched in a horrible hit by the Orc’s and taken off injured. This rallied the Dark Elves and they went “get’em Lads” and controlled the melee for a period. With half the Orc team on the ground and some stunned, the Dark Elf Ball Carrier was able to run out of the melee and hand the ball off to the Dark Elf who was free near the end zone. He then ran away Crossfield (when he could have scored). The Orc’s got up and pursed, but the Dark Elves crossed the line in the 20th minute. The Orc’s then complained about the Dark Elf time wasting tactics and a riot occurred, wasting more time. The Dark elves then kicked in the 25th minute with another precision kick to the far corner. The Orc’s again were superior in the melee and started to push forward, but again a Dark Elf managed to get to the Orc Thrower and knock him down disrupting the drive. The final score was 1-0 to the Shadows in a closely fought game that went to the wire.

The Under Miners have seen a lot of action over the last week.

As reported in the last newsletter they destoryed the Flash Mob. Here is the report of the game. In the first half the Under Miners killed/injured 6 of the Flash Mobs humans but they still managed to play the throwing game and score a touch down, then the Under Miners set up again and scored a touchdown in just as the first half finished.
In the second half the Under Miners proceeded to knock out/down all the Flash Mobs players until only 3 players were left on the pitch and then proceeded to get a touchdown

On Saturday they were again in action against the New Orcshire Sneaky Gits. In the first half they just collided and butted heads for the most part until the Orc's managed to knock a path through the dwarfs and attempted a hand off and failed it just about ending the half.
Second half they again butted heads but this time the dwarfs broke through and started knocking heads together injuring an orc lineman in the process and getting the ball up to the line, and just falling short due to some orc cunning! Then just about falling short for a last minute Hail Mary play

For there third game on Sunday they played the 7Up sellouts. Before the game began the undead flesh golem stepped on a land mine and knocked down himself and a werewolf. Throughout the first half the undead put the pressure on the dwarfs sending 2 players into the crowd and knocking the rest back, the undead proceeded to then make a play to get the ball up to the halfway line and then failed ago for it and dropped the ball failing to get the same momentum and not being able to do much more before the second half.

In the Second half the dwarfs brought on the deathroller and things looked up for the dwarfs. The dwarfs proceed to set up a strong line and have the deathroller waiting, the undead put up a strong offence with their study cage but it wasn't a match for the deathroller which made a mess of the ball carrier, and his friends, from there there wasn't much focus on the ball but more so a giant brawl! No one managed to score but it came close if nothing else!

We have had a couple of games played. The Barbarians faced up against the 7up Sellouts despite the pouring rain. The Barbarians won the toss and decided to receive the first kickoff. The heavy rain stopped the Barbarians thrower from picking up the ball until the ten minute mark. But by then he had players in position to receive a long pass. While the pass failed it did leave the ball in the back field of the 7up Sellouts half. The Sellouts were able to clear one of the Barbaian catchers from the ball and attempt a pick up. Once again the rain caused the ball to slip out of the Wight's hands on the first attempt. Soon after they were able to secure the ball and run it in for a touch down at the end of the first half. The 7up sellouts received and secured the ball in the second half. They moved it up the sidelines and were about to score there second touch down of the match when the 7up werewolf Benson slipped in the end zone and dropped the ball. From here the Barbarians were able to secure the ball, run it to relative safety, then dodging the 7up defenders ran it down field and made a pass the the lone standing Blitzer. The 7up zombie fell making a tackle attempt allowing the Barbarians Blitzer to run the ball home in the final minuets of the game. Drawing the game 1-1 at end time.

The New Orcshire Sneaky Gits took on an Amazon team in the WeekEnd Division. The Orcs won with one touch down. Six injuries were caused in the first half, three on each side. None of the Amazons suffered long term problems, but an Orc blitzer died and the other blitzer is missing the next game.

There have been three games reported.

From the Weekend division, Findley (Lizardmen) vs the New Orcshire Sneaky Gits was a draw. Only report on the game was 2 casualties caused on to the orc team: one getting a Broken Collar Bone; the other getting off lightly with no lasting marks. The Lizardmen suffered no harm.

In a cross over divisional game the Nobbies Nutkrakkas (Orcs) took on the West Forest Albion (Wood-Elves). The following report is from the Nobbies Journalist. The Elves kick off, orc blitzer moves up behind 'Da Gimp', digs are handed out by black orcs on the scrimmage line but nothing permanent apart from a stunned elf catcher & the Treeman is knocked over. Derrick Deepwood (no.5 blitzer) picks up ball.
On the first West Forest Albion turn a well-placed bribe 'Ego-Trip' means the wardancer has to go first on the wood-elf turn for the rest of the game. The wardancer goes on to develop a vendetta against the one orc lineman Johnny Jiggles & flattens him twice this half, failing however to get a K.O. or even a stun.
The Treeman gets up successfully, but a West Forest catcher fails a dodge & is stunned - turnover. Orcs reform their line but don't move far forward - the wardancer again flattens poor old johnny jiggles but doesn't k.o. or stun him, but the Treeman gets revenge on Da Gimp & knocks him over. Orcs close up their offence - a block from Sir Quickie (no 8 blitzer) on a West Forest linesman causes the first casualty of the match (injured) & black orc Karl Hungus stuns a linesman. Slick Dangle pulls off a dodge away from the Treeman.
The west Forest Wardancer dodges away from from a Black orc mob including Daddy Cream & chases ball possession. The Treeman knocks over Karl Hungus. An West Forest catcher joins in the chase after Derrick Deepwood with the ball.
After "havin' a tink 'bout it" Da Gimp again knocks over the West Forest Treeman & Deepwood moves up to make a successful quick pass to the Nutkrakka thrower Slick Dangle, who very quickly after is jumped by all 3 West Forest catchers, goes down & loses the ball, which scatters dramatically to the feet of black orc Don tang & Derrick Deepwood, who intimidate the elf catcher into fumbling a pick up.
The orcs do a lot of pushing but apart from the Da Gimp (who tent pegs a lineman) West Forest Albion maintain their defensive line. Nutkrakka Blitzer Chuck Tail is able to regain possession for the orcs, & an alert referee sends off Johnny Jiggles for putting the boot into the downed (now stunned) lineman, reducing the orcs to 10 men.
The West Forest wardancer attempts to blitz for possession but fails to knock over Chuck Tail. An elf linesman is snagged & falls over trying to dodge Buster Pickle. Orc thrower Slick Dangle moves up to Wood Elf baseline prepared to receive a pass from Chuck Tail, who fails to dodge away from the wardancer & drops the ball.
The West Forest Albion coach sees his moment & now plays 'Blackmail' on the Nutkrakkas no.3 Black Orc Don Tang - he will be playing for the elf team for this turn! The Wardancer snags the ball & legs it back into the orc half along the wide zone. Don Tang assists on a blitz to clear space for him but the elf drive is ended prematurely when Buster Pickle (showing great form with this move) trips another wood elf linesman.
Black Orc No. 4 Karl Hungus blocks & stuns a West Forest catcher while Sir Quickie fails to knock over another catcher, Chuck Tail gets up but fails a go for it to blitz, leaving the wardancer to leg it towards the orc endline with one linesman & a catcher defending him & one turn left for each team this half West Forest look unstoppable. The Nutkrakkas halfheartedlyattempt several blocks to no effect - 'Da Gimp' stands around picking his nose - no help there! & No. 2 Black Orc Daddy Cream gets overconfident & tries to block the treeman but goes down.
West Forest Albion don't mess around & the Wardancer goes in for the Touchdown - 1-nil to the Elves at half time.
At end of half time - Johnny Jiggles is in the dungeon, all elves are back apart from the injured linesman, who is out for the remainder of the match.
Nutkrakka Kick Off - West Forest Albion Receiving (change to weather - perfect BB weather) A lucky scatter puts the ball on the other side of scrimmage line from black orc Daddy Cream. the wardancer blitzes Derrick Deepwood (knocked over) & the Treeman flattens no. 6 blitzer Hank Cucumber - one catcher then dodges in - successfully picks up the ball under Daddy Cream's nose & makes two dodges away, but fails on the second one to leave the ball by the sideline. Derrick Deepwood gets up to blitz the wardancer back (shoving him aside) , dodges & picks up the ball. The wardancer blitzes back, knocking him over, the ball scattering behind him. The Wardancer dodges in to pick up the ball, fumbles & then succeeds on 2nd attempt, goes for it to move up to 6 squares from the orc baseline. A wood-elf linesman fails to dodge away from the orc 'Da gimp', who wakes up long enough to hook his legs out from under him, causing a stun,
The orc no. 6 Hank Cucumber goes on the attack, pulling off a lucky dodge to get back & blitz the elf wardancer from the side, driving him into the crowd (stunned) - the ball is thrown back into the middle of the pitch where the orc thrower Slick Dangle picks it up & runs for the centre scrimmage line. The elves scramble to stop him, with one catcher getting up to assist a block from a linesman on slick, (double skulls!) - Slick throws a high elbow in defence stunning the linesman!
The orcs consolidate their drive - Derrick Deepwood (surely orc of the match at this stage) pushes another wood elf (a catcher) into the crowd who happily pummel him into unconsciousness (K.O'ed). Da Gimp again knocks over the Treeman leaving No. 7 blitzer Chuck Tail to make a blitz on the catcher chasing Slick Dangle - w 3 assists he makes a crunching tackle, the catcher goes down, & out, & gone - DOA.
Hank Cucumber attempts a one on one against the wardancer, but his block fails & he ends up K.O'ed by the wardancer looking for some payback for the mounting West Forest casualties.
The Wood elves blood is up & they make a charge against the Nutkrakka mob forming in midfield around Slick Dangle with the ball.
The Treeman gets up but is pinned by Daddy Cream. The wardancer is so worked up he blitzes black orc no. 1 Buster Pickle, knocking him over & then follows up the orc mob along with the surviving wood elf catcher. One linesman dodges away from 'Da Gimp' to follow them, another also succeeds in a dodge but a third fails & is tripped by Daddy Cream, getting stunned in the process.
The orc blob moves up the field with 'Da Gimp' joining them to cover the back - 3 elf linesman move up to cover their baseline while the wardancer shadows Chuck Tail. The Nutkrakkas throw several blocks & Derrick Deepwood blitzes & stuns the remaining West Forest catcher (the crowd goes wild) but the orcs fail to make much headway up the field.
the Wardancer declares a blitz, dodges Chuck & goes for it to blitz Slick with possession, but without support is only able to shove him back a space. the Treeman blocks Daddy Cream, knocking him over, and another linesman moves up to the orc mob.
Da Gimp wakes up & throws a block on the wardancer, who is knocked over but manages to avoid injury, don Tang stuns the West forest catcher - Sir Quickie & Chuck Tail both knock over linesmen allowing Slick to inch up a few spaces closer to the west Forest endline.
The Treeman again flattens Daddy Cream (who claims he barely felt the last tackle) - the West Forest catcher moves up front of the Nutkrakka mob (brave man!) & is backed up by the wardancer, who uses his leap skill to get in front of the orc mob. The Nutkrakkas start to break open the mob - Chuck Tail makes a run for the West Forest baseline, blitzing a linesman on the way, knocking him over. The wood elf catcher follows after but can't reach him, so the wardancer makes a solo run & blitzes him - skull, no team re-rolls left so he goes down (no stun or K.O.). Turnover, into the final Orc turn. Da Gimp scratches himself, Sir Quickie pushes a linesman, Slick Dangle goes on the blitz, knocks over the West Forest catcher & hands off to Chuck Tail just over the baseline for touchdown & one-all draw after a brutal, gruelling contest for both sides.
The game ends 1 All.

The Final game was a top of the table clash between the Shadows and the Greenbay Pickers. The Shadows kicked off. The Orc’s picked up the ball and pushed forward, until the Orc Thrower, threw to the Goblin in the middle of the melee. The ball scatter from the Goblin and mysteriously split into two. The Dark Elves pounced on one and had it moved swiftly down the field, while the Orcs held on to the other. The Dark Elves scored in the 20th minute with the correct ball. By this time they had suffered one dead Lineman and a Blitzer injured with a broken Hip, while the Orc’s had a Goblin sent off for fouling (and killing) a prone player. The Orc’s Received the kick again and a mid field melee started. The Orc’s failed to score and the ball was on the ground for a large part, but the Dark Elves suffered another two injuries (only out for the game).
The second half the Dark Elves received. They pushed down the right and in the 15th minute had gotten to the touchdown line. There they went across the field to waste time and avoid getting beaten and scored in the 30th minute. Some injuries were had, a Dark elf lineman was killed trying to get away, while another was injured when he got separated from the group. The Orc Blitzer responsible was sent off as well. With no time to score the Orc’s attempted to pound the remains of the Dark Elf team and managed to injure another Dark elf (Just for the game), but had a player sent off. Victory for the Shadows 2-0, but 5 injured and two dead (although 4 injured are back for the next game).

This week we have two results recorded (but are waiting on three game reports).
At the weekend the West Forest Albion played off against the 7up Sellout Necromantic team. The Wood Elves received in the first half and scored a quick touchdown in the 10th minute. Receiving after the touchdown the 7up Sellouts moved the ball deep into the elves half of the field only to turn the ball over just before the end of the half after the Wardancer leaped in and knocked the carrier down. During the chaos the Wood elves managed to knock one 7up player out and injure another, only his regeneration saving him from serious harm.

The Wood elf Treeman took root during the 10th minute of the game and was to be the only Wood elf player remaining on the field at the end of the game. Three took injury from being pushed into an angry crowd, and a further three casualties were caused by the Necromantic players them selves. The remaining four Wood elf players were only concussed, but still unable to participate in the remainder of the drive. Despite the 7up Sellouts's best efforts of stomping on the downed wardancer for 15 minuets straight he was patched up and will be sent back on the field along with most of the Wood elf team for there next game, only one of the casualties took lasting damage.

The game ended with a 1-1 draw.
On Wednesday, the 7up sellouts took on the Shadows for a top of the table clash. The Shadows received, and after pushing back the 7up line of scrimmage they pushed up the left flank. The disaster struck as on of the witch elves fell over on an easy blitz leaving the ball carrier out on his own. He was mugged by the werewolves and the ball stolen. Something mystical then must have been happening as for the next 20 minutes, the Dark elves were falling all over the place and could not do anything. The 7up’s scored in the 30th minute. The Dark elves had a small chance to score with the restart with two players getting into the back field. Unfortunately, yet again a witch elf fell over doing the critical block and the half ended 1-0.

The second half, the 7up’s received. They would start by going left, but the Dark elf captain, Cliff, singlehanded distrupted the move, so they turn to the right flank. This stretch the dark elf defense, which was missing some players, and in the 40th minute the 7up’s scored a touchdown.
The game ended 2-0 to the 7up’s with casualties 1-1.
