General Rules:
This tournament will be played using the latest rules (the Hobbit rulebook and sourcebooks) and rule updates (Shrine of Knowledge). For the Hobbit and LOTR SBG this means:
Army size is 750 points in line with the Hobbit and sourcebook rules i.e. warbands, leaders, allies, bow limits etc. One army per player. There will be good vs good and evil vs evil. Just make sure to say which player is “evil” and “good” with regard to drawn combats and roll to see who gets to perform their heroic action. The army must not be over the allocated points. 1 or 2 points over or more is not acceptable.
Armies may be selected from any sourcebook (The Kingdoms of Men, The Free Peoples, Mordor, The Fallen Realms, Moria and Angmar), The Hobbit Rulebook and any Gamesworkshop Errata and FAQs (Shrine of Knowledge) and Official Material (Men of Dale Cards etc.)
Your army list and selected leader/war gear must stay the constant throughout all games.
Each player will be required to keep clear written record of their Might, Will, Fate totals and Courage, readily available for an opponent or tournament organiser to scrutinise.
At the start of each game, players must shake hands and tell each other their names and go through what’s in their army. You must ask and get a player’s permission to touch their models. At the end of each game, players must shake hands. At the start of each phase in a game turn, players must ask each other “Are you performing a heroic action in this phase?” and get must accept the first answer before the player with priority moves, shoots or choses the first fight. Both players must declare special strikes/using two handed weapons/shielding in the combat phase before rolling. Strikes against mounted models must be declared between rider and mount before rolling the dice.
All measurements will be made in Inches.
Any players interfering with other players games or distracting other players will be penalized accordingly.
Models in your army should ideally be painted with at least 2 colours.
WYSIWYG/Proxies: There will be no proxies. If an official GW model exists you must use that model.
Models use the hand weapon they come with (i.e. no conversions). Models will have to be what you see is what you get with regards to wargear.
The tournament organisers have the power to remove illegal model(s) from your army and you won’t be allowed to substitute the points for that model. If a hero leading a war band is removed the whole war band is removed. If the hero is your leader then another hero in your army will be chosen to be your army’s leader by the tournament organiser. You have been warned. Any questions please email the tournament organiser sooner rather than later.
Army List Submission:
Please submit your army list or questions via email listed below to the tournament organiser for verification:
tcconclave@gmail.com
All submission must be in .pdf or in Microsoft Office 2010 compatible format or a paint image (JPEG). All submissions must be clearly drawn up (with points values for each model/war band, total points, total units, Break point and 25%, with your name and contact information.)
The Games:
When time is called (“Drop Dice”), please end the game immediately, even if in the middle of a dice roll or phase and begin scoring.
Throughout the rounds, time remaining will be announced at regular intervals.
Scenarios will be announced prior to commencement of each round. Each scenario will be played once.
Games will be played on a 6’x4’ board (72 inches x 48 inches).
Terrain:
Terrain will be set up prior to the beginning of the tournament by the tournament organiser. Please do not move or damage the terrain. All Rivers and Water Features will count as being ‘Shallow Water’ as described on page 85 of the Hobbit Manual. For a model to benefit from being in a wood they must have their base fully inside the wood (if they are charged by cavalry etc.). Models that have their base wholly or partially in the wood count as moving at half speed or quarter speed in the case of cavalry.
Scenarios:
The scenarios that will be played will be the “Fighting a Points Match Battle” scenarios in the Hobbit rulebook and source books. These are:
. To the Death! . Domination, . Hold Ground! . Lords of Battle! . Reconnoitre! . The High Ground!
Limits and Clarifications:
. No Tom and No Goldberry. . No Gollum or Sméagol. . No Mirror of Galadriel, No Trolls Campfire, Siege equipment and similar war gear. . Only one model in a game can carry the ring. In any game as such if two or more models with the ring are on the table then only one of them will be able to carry the ring consult the chart below to see who carries the ring in such a situation: - If Sauron has purchased the Ring in his points cost then he always carries the Ring. - Remove the Ring from Frodo’s Profile if Sauron is also in the Game. - Remove the Ring from Bilbo’s Profile if Sauron or Frodo is also in the Game. - Remove the Ring from Isildur’s Profile if Sauron, Frodo or Bilbo is also in the Game.
. The passengers rule will not be used in this tournament. . The Spider Queen, Shelob, all models with the ‘Fly’ special rule and Giant Spiders, movement special rule will be modified in the following ways: None of these models may end their move on a building or similar terrain feature that causes them to be balanced on that terrain feature. They must have their base on the ground (in relation to the table) when they enter a combat. . Models armed with any bows and spears can either shoot their bow in which case they cannot use their spear to support in the combat phase. If they intend to use their spear to support another model they cannot shoot their bow. Exceptions to this rule are throwing weapons i.e. a wood elf can throw his dagger and kill an enemy and then move to support a friend with his wood elf spear. . If a Mumak is within 3” or 6” if an objective (depending on the scenario) only the Mumak will count towards the number of models capturing the objective. If however the Mumak is in base contact with the objective then all of its remaining crew will count towards the total number of models capturing the objective.
